Here's the Scoop on Joining Red River Working Dogs DVG Club.
Red River Working Dogs is a DVG IPO training club formed and maintained in the German tradition. Team members support each other as we develop our training and trialing skills with the end goal of earning IPO titles. Note: The sport was formerly called Schutzhund (German for "protection dog") but is now referred to as IPO (Internationale Prüfungs Ordnung, German for “International Trial Rules").
IPO is a demanding and very competitive sport that requires daily training at home and training at the Club at least once or twice a week. This sport will put a lot of miles on your vehicle and will consume a seemingly endless number of hours. Being a part of a competitive IPO training team takes a high level of commitment and good chemistry between team members is critical. We expect everyone to be supportive of and kind to one another, and to help us all achieve our individual goals as we work toward our team goals. The club has regular Club Work Days where we all show up and work to maintain and improve our training facilities. Membership in the club also requires the payment of (1) RRWD Club Dues ($240/year), and (2) DVG Dues ($100/year). Being a part of RRWD is a lot of work (we think it's fun work) but is also infinitely rewarding.
If being a part of our team sounds like something you're interested in, the best way to get started is to come out to visit our club on a training day (Saturdays are the busiest). You'll be able to observe how our team trains, meet the team members and get a feel for whether or not our club is for you. And our team members will get to know you and your dog a little bit too.
In a nutshell, here's how visitors become members:
